Key Concept 17.1 Candidates will be able to locate a variety of technology resources, evaluate them for classroom use, and assist colleagues with this process.
Evaluations of Technology Tools
In ET-620 my partner and I evaluated a few technology tools for classroom use. Once we gathered our research we conducted a presentation to share the pros and cons of each tool with our classmate. Our presentations were interactive and allowed teachers to explore the tool while we shared examples of ways that we would use it in our own classroom.
Key Concept 17.2 Candidates will be able to locate funding opportunities to enhance technology resources.
Funding Paper
This summer I conducted research on grants that I could possibly use at my own school. Through research I was able to choose one grant and write a proposal letter. I chose to apply to the Educators of America Grant. I think that this grant would be a good fit because this organization believes that educational technology is very important for student learning. They are willing to support teachers with the classroom technology that is needed. They also offer to train teachers on how to use the technology. Applications are reviewed four times a year which is convenient for teachers who would like to apply at the beginning, middle or end of the school year. The applications are reviewed in these months throughout the year; January, April, July and October. To apply for this grant I needed to explain the technology that would be used, how it would be used and a long term strategy that would be integrated to increase student achievement. The training will be nice for teachers who would like a PD outside of school or after my internship is over. To access the application you can go on to this link https://www.educatorsusa.org/educator-and-technology-grants and scroll to the bottom of the page and click the red button titled “Grant Application PDF”. The completed application can be submitted by mailed or emailed to [email protected]
